Luleå University of Technology, Norrbotten Air Wing F 21 and FMV - Försvarets materielverk have entered into a strategic collaboration to advance research, innovation and total defense in the arctic. At the heart of this partnership is the development and integration of autonomous systems, in the air, on land, at sea and in space, which are becoming critical for surveillance, logistics, communication and endurance in the demanding Arctic environment.

By combining academic expertise, operational experience and advanced testing capabilities, the collaboration creates a unique national resource that accelerates innovation and safeguards critical infrastructure. It also ensures long-term competence supply for Sweden’s total defense while aligning with NATO’s priorities in the Arctic, where autonomous technologies play an increasingly decisive role.
